In 1972, the Adcock brothers, Robert ‘Bob’ Adcock, Michael ‘Scott’ Adcock, Thomas ‘Rusty’ Adcock, and David Adcock, along with the help of their father, Oreon ‘Odie’ Adcock, established Adcock Brothers Inc. Although brothers enjoyed the car business, they decided to follow Odie’s career path and pursue careers in auctioneering. Bob Adcock knew his passion was the wholesale business and remained running Adcock Brothers Inc. In late 1979, Bob acquired full ownership of the company.
Adcock Brothers Inc began wholesaling cars out of a small operation located in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The company was present at many auctions in the area. However, the Manheim Auto Auction was the primary auction for Adcock Brothers Inc. The company became a regular consignor at the auction. As their auction grew, Adcock Brothers Inc grew as well. The number of vehicles consigned at the auction climbed consistently over the next six years.
Growth in the company led Adcock Brothers Inc to relocate to a larger operation in Manheim, Pennsylvania. The new facility enabled the company to expand their current business and add companies; Adcock Auto Transport, Adcock Management Services, AAA Recon and Adcock Paint & Body Shop. During the 30 years spent at that facility, Adcock Brothers Inc and its companies established trusted and highly respected names in the automotive industry.
The companies of Adcock Brothers Inc grew considerably in the past decade and relocation was necessary. In 2008, Adcock Brothers Inc opened its current location at 14 Anthony Drive in Manheim, Pennsylvania. The nine acre facility and 20,000 square foot building is conveniently placed across from the largest auction in the world, Manheim Auto Auction. The company is present at the sale every week in their own two, exclusive lanes. On average, Adcock Brothers Inc consigns between 500-700 vehicles a week. Thus, having the status as one of the largest independent wholesale consigners in the world.
In 2012, Adcock Brothers Inc will celebrate its 40th Anniversary. The company is still a family owned and operated business now employing a third generation of the Adcock family along with a staff of almost 100 employees. The success and longevity of Adcock Brothers Inc would not be possible without the dedication of their valued employees and Bob Adcock’s vision 40 years ago.
